กรป.กลาง จึงได้ให้ นพค.11 จ.กาญจนบุรี ทดลองผสมเทียมโค โดยสั่งน้ำเชื้อโค จากต่างประเทศมาทดลองผสมเทียมกับโคพันธุ์พื้นเมือง ผลการทดลองเป็นที่น่าพอใจ ลูกที่เกิดจากการผสมเทียม จะมีการเจริญเติบโต และอัตราการแลกเนื้อที่ดีกว่าโคพันธุ์พื้นเมืองIn 1968, the Central Development and Security Command (CDSC) assigned Mobile Development Unit 11 (MDU 11) in Kanchanaburi Province to conduct an artificial insemination trial in cattle. They imported cattle semen from abroad to experiment with artificial insemination on native cattle breeds. The trial results were satisfactory. The offspring born from artificial insemination showed better growth and meat yield compared to native cattle breeds.

จึงได้ขยายผลไปสู่การจัดตั้งโครงการขยายผลิตผลโปรตีน ศูนย์ส่งเสริมและขยายพันธุ์สัตว์On March 17, 1970, the results led to the expansion and establishment of the Protein Production Expansion Project, Animal Promotion and Breeding Center."

จัดตั้งกองสนับสนุนและขยายพันธุ์สัตว์ ให้เป็นหน่วยขึ้นตรง โครงการขยายผลิตผลโปรตีน ศูนย์ส่งเสริมและขยายพันธุ์สัตว์ กองอำนวยการกลางรักษาความปลอดภัยแห่งชาติOn March 18, 1973, the Animal Support and Breeding Division was established as a direct unit under the Protein Production Expansion Project, Animal Promotion and Breeding Center, National Security Central Command.

เปลี่ยนนามหน่วยเป็นกองสนับสนุนและขยายพันธุ์สัตว์ สำนักงานทหารพัฒนา หน่วยบัญชาการทหารพัฒนา In 1997, the unit's name was changed to the Animal Support and Breeding Division, Office of Military Development, Development Command.
